JUNE 15-17: The Detroit Economic Club hosts the National Summit to Define America’s Future

I am a firm believer that it is about time for us to take control of our own destiny in Detroit, and finally step up to become the change we seek! It’s time for Young Detroit to take control of our own future and to get down to business building a better, more progessive Detroit for future generations to come.
There is a major event that will be in Detroit starting Monday, June 15 that you don’t want to miss. The Detroit Economic Club (DEC) is hosting an event (DEC) on June 15-17, 2009 at Marriott Renaissance Center in Detroit called, The National Summit. The goal of The National Summit is to bring attention to actions that will improve America’s ability to compete in the 21st century and is a unique national conversation.
It will engage a cross-sector gathering of prominent business, government and academic leaders in debate and dialogue in four areas of vital importance to America’s future in a global economy: Technology. Energy, Environment and Manufacturing. Speakers include: William Clay Ford, Jr., Executive Chairman of Ford Motor Company, Dow Chemical Company CEO & Chairman Andrew Liveris, Stephen Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft, and Governor Jennifer Granholm, as well as a host of other major heavy hittters.
Key elements of The National Summit include: Daily General Session featuring a panel of nationally recognized business, government, academic and other leaders who discuss the four key issues in the context of a global economy, interactive Town Halls, each of which will focus on one of the four key issues and improving American competitiveness, CEO Summit Daily meetings, Innovation Expo which provides organizations and individuals the opportunity to showcase innovative ideas, projects and technologies, The VIP Club Level section where Town Hall leaders, speakers, sponsors and invited dignitaries will enjoy exclusive meeting, networking and hospitality opportunities

There is also an UnSummit on Sunday, June 14 hosted by Leadership Next, the next generation leadership to engage and participate in topics discussed at The National Summit. The UnSummit is a half-day policy forum held on Sunday, June 14, from 12:00 to 5:30 p.m. at the Marriott Renaissance Center.
